To achieve our mission, the DC Head Start Association engages its members in leadership, advocacy, professional development, and parent/family engagement activities.
Leadership
We support the leadership development of Early Head Start and Head Start staff and parents of young children by offering opportunities to serve on committees and participate in programs.
Professional Development
We collaborate with local, regional, and national partners to offer professional development related to Early Head Start and Head Start staff roles and the interests of parents of young children.
Public Policy & Advocacy
We advocate for high quality, continuous, and comprehensive early childhood development services and supports in policies and practices to ensure all children are ready to succeed in school/life.
Parent and family engagement
We provide parents and families with programs and activities in partnership with local and national organizations to support their role as their child's first and most important teacher.
Our Impact
We are making a difference in Washington, DC by serving the most vulnerable pregnant women, infants, toddlers, preschool age children, and their families through Early Head Start and Head Start. We use our voice as advocates and leaders to influence policy makers in supporting high quality child development services.
